My name is Rodrigo. I am a musician and also an educator. Both things are complementary to each other from my approach to music.
Since I started learning to play the drums (my main instrument) I became interested in how we learn, and how we can improve the process by which we acquire and develop our skills. This led me to study Musicology in the first place, to get a bachelor degree in jazz drumming later on, and finally to study a Master's degree in musical research, and another Master's degree in jazz performing focused on the process of practice. The latter master was studied in the Netherlands and New York, which widened up my perspective of music and musical education.
During my studies abroad I became more and more interested in how music can improve people's lives. Therefore, I started to apply the knowledge I had obtained to give drum lessons, and later on, music lessons in a school.
Nowadays I keep on with my training since I like to consider myself as a lifelong learner. In this blog I talk about courses I am taking, thoughts about teaching and learning, and all the stuff that comes to my mind regarding education in general, music education in particular, and personal improvement and development.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy the blog!
